iProVPN Review 2025 – An Affordable VPN with All the Premium Features
If you are looking for an affordable alternative to pricier VPNs but you want the same functionalities, you might find iProVPN as to be a strong contender.
Although it doesn’t boast a large server pool, it offers 10 Gbps server speed along with AES 256-bit military-grade encryption, which are some of the essential features to look for in a VPN.
The British Virgin Islands-based VPN offers all these at a fraction of the cost of many top-rated VPNs.
Like most paid VPNs, iProVPN offers a failsafe way to keep your activities hidden and secure on the web. At the most basic, it helps users bypass network blocks and access geo-restricted content.
But I found that it’s much more than that. It successfully blocks annoying text and banner ads as you surf and stream. You can pick from its 250+ servers spread across 45 countries and use the VPN simultaneously on 10 devices.
I decided to look beyond these numbers and focus on what it actually delivers, and in the process, I took account of what the existing users think about the VPN, its cost, and its position in the competitive VPN market.

iProVPN – Efficient or Barely Functional?
iProVPN is a VPN service packed with add-on features like includes malware protection and ad blocker. When I pitted it against some of the market leaders like NordVPN and Surfshark, I found that the VPN service has a competitive edge in a number of areas despite having a relatively small server network.
Server Network and Global Coverage
Speaking about its server pool, iProVPN servers are distributed in 45 countries and counting, but you can only choose from 250+ high-speed servers. Compare it to NordVPN’s 7248+ servers across 111 countries and Surfshark’s more than 3200 servers. You can easily spot the glaring difference here.
Security Features
iProVPN uses military-grade AES 256-bit encryption to safeguard user data. It also includes a kill switch feature, which disconnects the user from the internet when the connection drops to prevent data leaks.
The company do not only maintain a watertight no-logs policy, but they are also not legally obligated to disclose user data since they are nestled in the British Virgin Islands. Unlike the USA, the British Virgin Islands has no data retention laws.
This means even if the data is requested by some external government, it will first be reviewed by the British Virgin Islands court.
Advanced Features
As I mentioned it earlier, the VPN also offers many add-on functionalities, such as ad blocker and malware protection. It is available on Android, Windows, Mac, Fire TV, and iOS, and you can even set it up on a router to protect multiple devices.
NordVPN and Surfshark provide a broader array of advanced features. NordVPN offers specialized servers, including Double VPN and Onion Over VPN.
Surfshark provides unique features too, like an IP Rotator that regularly changes the user’s IP address without disconnecting from the server.
Pricing
When it comes to pricing, there are significant differences in the pricing structures of iProVPN, NordVPN and Surfshark. iProVPN is hands down the cost-saver king in the long-term subscription segment. Its 2+1 year plan costs only $1.26 a month.
Although iProVPN offers a lower price point especially when you compare the longer-term plans, I recommend considering the server network size, advanced features, and security assurances.
Surfshark, for example, lets you connect to an unlimited number of devices, which keeps it well ahead in the race. NordVPN lets you connect only up to 6 devices, and iProVPN supprts 10 simultaneous connections.
However, I was a bit disappointed to discover that they don’t offer a free trial. I can’t complain though, as the majority of the paid VPN companies do not offer a free trial, with a few exceptions like the ProtonVPN. I enquired about it via live chat, but the support agent replied in negative.
Streaming and Torrenting
iProVPN is compatible with popular streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime. It also supports P2P file sharing across all its servers. Both NordVPN and Surfshark also offer the same capabilities, so it’s a tie.
The Social Media Buzz around iProVPN – Is It All Positive?
iProVPN has been able to generate some positive buzz on social media sites like Reddit and Facebook. However, some users have also underlined its shortcomings on these platforms. Most users appreciate its affordability and speed.
But there are certain downsides too. Some Windows users complained about some of the servers not working for them. Also, one Redditor complained that they purchased an iProVPN subscription through StackSocial, only to discover that the kill switch was unavailable on their plan. Goes without saying that these things are unacceptable.
iProVPN on Review Sites – How’s the Rating Overall?
As reviews on social media sites like Reddit were like a mixed bag, I decided to go through the reviews of iProVPN on totally consumer-focused platforms like Trustpilot and Sitejabber.
Sitejabber doesn’t have any dedicated page for iProVPN, so I switched to Trustpilot without dithering, and I discovered that it has secured a very high rating (4.3) on the platform out of 116 reviews as I write this.
However, these ratings are subject to change and I strongly recommend checking the site from time to time to find the latest reviews, and ratings.
Many Trustpilot users have praised the interface of the VPN. However, I found that connection stability is a primary concern of many users.
The biggest concern of many users, and one that can make you think twice before actually buying the VPN is that the application was identified by their antivirus programs as a virus! It doesn’t stop there, though. Many users even experienced a blank screen upon installation, and changing the protocols or hard-resetting their systems didn’t work.
These are some issues that might get you cold feet. You might want to try it out risk-free for one month and claim a refund if you are not happy. Claiming a refund is quite easy.
I will go into further detail about their refund policy, but before that, let’s take a look at how the VPN weighs up against popular alternatives like Private Internet Access VPN or CyberGhost VPN.

Is iProVPN Worth It?
iProVPN comes with all the features I would personally look for in a VPN. However, it lacks many advanced features that you’ll find in competing products like NordVPN and Surfshark. Its server network size is pretty small, but that’s not the biggest issue here.
The biggest downside, in my opinion, is the unstable nature of the service. Many of its servers do not work, as Windows users reported, and you may even experience glitches like blank screen.
The more frustrating thing is, there’s no definite workaround for this, except hard restarting the system or uninstalling and installing the application again.
If you are looking for a cheap VPN that checks all the boxes but you are okay with occasional hiccups, you may consider it. But if you are looking for a truly reliable VPN, I suggest you look for an alternative.
